The ancient Greeks named this sea as “Inhospitable Sea.” The sea was difficult to travel and due to its bad reputation and several hostile tribes who inhabited its shores made the sea almost unapproachable. But, after the Greeks took over the sea and its nearby areas they changed its name to “Hospitable Sea.” With the depth of almost 150 meters, its waters are filled with hydrogen sulfide which spread for almost 2 kilometers. There are no living organisms present in this area and hence the name. But something was there which proved why the Black Sea is also counted as the most mysterious place on the planet Earth.
