Amelia Mary Earhart was an American aviation explorer and author. She also became the first female aviator who flew solo across the Atlantic Ocean. For this incredible journey, she received the United States Distinguished Flying Cross. She even wrote best-selling books describing her aviation experience and was instrumental in the group called The Ninety-Nines (the organization formed by female pilots).
