This study was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA in 2015 concluded that children’s self-esteem is based on the parent’s affection and support towards them while praising kids all the time is directly related to narcissism. The researchers explained, “children seem to acquire narcissism, in part, by internalizing parents’ inflated views of them.”
