George Clooney, a name synonymous with Hollywood glamour, has made an unexpected choice by residing on the Thames in London, despite it being known as one of the world’s dirtiest rivers. So, why did he opt to build a new home on a private island in the middle of the Thames? Well, it’s because his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, wanted to remain based in Britain.

Their private English island, known as the “Soaring Eye” island, is far more glamorous than it might sound. It’s situated on the border of Oxfordshire and is valued at over $12 million. Even before Clooney and his wife started their renovations, the island came complete with its own cinema, a grand terrace, and a new pool house. Not bad at all!
