A Tough Girl
Emily had shared with her friends about the suffocating environment she has to live in. All her friends belonged to the same age group, who also complained about their parents’ stern behavior. Unlike the rest of the friends, Emily took her mother’s nature to heart. According to Emily, she was about to be an adult soon and it was unfair of her mom to treat her like a baby.
Emily desired more freedom which her mum might never allow.
No Big Deal
Pam was a strict lady who didn’t want her daughter defying her house rules. She understood that raising Emily up would take a lot of hard work because Emily has never been an easy child to deal with. Anyway, Pam was quite confident that her daughter would never be out of her control. While talking with her family and friends, Pam never discussed the arguments that the two of them had. As it was all under control as per Pam.
The Short Stick
Emily stayed out or inside her room for most of the time just to stay away from her mom. She didn’t want to get into any arguments with her anymore. Her mother was becoming annoying for her now and she was in a desperate need of some space but her mom never understood it. The question was why did Emily make such a big deal of these issues? Well, when the 14-year-old looked at her friends, all of them seemed to have empathizing moms. So, yes, Emily felt her issues were huge as she was the only one suffering from it.
Separate Lives
Things were getting worse to the extent that Emily stopped getting out of her room at all. The only exception to it was the times when her mother called her for food and when her friends were coming to see her. Pam was pretty sure that this weirdness of her daughter was solely due to her hormones. The only moments when the two of them were happy together were when Pam took Emily out for dinner or ordered a pizza to watch a movie while lying on their couch.
Online Friends
The 14-year-old had a lot of online friends with whom she shared her frustration. She met all of them on Facebook and never saw them in real life. Emily felt these friends understood her much better than her mom did. She even talked to them over the phone when she felt like there was no one else she could share her feelings with. They made plans of meeting them once she turns 18.
Thoughts On Paper
Emily talked to an online friend who explained to her the benefits of writing our feelings down. She gave her example to Emily and the teen was impressed by this suggestion. Emily thought that she should maintain her own personal journal too.
