Carrol Sullivan is one of the eight children of Nancy and Clifford Hawkins. Being the only girl child in the family, she was loved the most of all the siblings. But who she loved the most? It was her DAD! Her dad knew all her secrets from bigger to smaller ones. Needless to say, he was her favorite confidant. Being dad’s princess she thought she too knows everything about him. However, little did she know, her father was hiding a big secret from her.
Normal Childhood
Carrol Sullivan had a very blissful childhood. As mentioned earlier, she never fell short of love and affection from her family. Nobody in the area would dare to touch her, thanks to her seven brothers who were always up to take on anyone who dared to trouble their elder sister. Everything looked ordinary and beautiful but as they say, sometimes what appears to be is not what it actually is. That was exactly the case here! The family had a secret that she and her siblings were not aware of. It takes a long time for the secret to come to light but when it does, it changes everything.
Doubtful Behavior
Though everything looked normal for her, she sometimes would find her father going low for no reason. Strangely, no matter how much Carrol would try to make him happy again, he would keep sulking in his own little mysterious grief. In that phase, he would not talk to anyone even to Carrol and also would keep himself away from the world and family. Those days used to be the saddest time for the family. It is not that Carrol never tried to find out the reason but every time she tried she failed miserably. Living together for years does not guarantee that you would be knowing everything about the person. When Carrol learned about her father’s secret, she realized she knew nothing about him.
Time Flies
Time passed by and little Carrol matured into a young lady. She got married to a man of her choice and bid goodbye to her father’s home. However, her affection for her parents and especially for her father did not lessen a bit. She continued frequenting her mother’s house even after her marriage. Fortunately, her husband and her in-laws never stopped her from visiting her parents’ home. Even though the lady had another man in her life, her father was still the world’s best man for her and she still was sharing her every secret with her father.
Post Marriage
Even after her marriage, the woman was still very much a part of the home. Nothing had changed neither the house nor the behavior of her parents. However, there was one change that had come in her father. Her father prohibited her and her siblings for that matter from touching one of the drawers that was attached to his desk. Though no one dared to touch the drawer, Carrol always felt drawn towards that. She thought it to be related to the uncanny behavior of her father.
Drawing Out
Now she was standing right before the drawer. She turned the key in and in no time she drawled it out. Too much to her surprise, the drawer was all empty if not for a folded paper that was kept on one side of the rectangular drawer. The paper was nothing but a letter. Someone with the name of Kathy had written a letter to Mr. Clifford. In the letter, the lady had said that she was raised by a single mother and nobody ever told her about her father. She believed Mr. Clifford was her father. It is important to point out here that the letter was written many decades ago. When she called the number written on the letter it turned out that all her assumptions were true.
