When a hydropower watergate was under renovation in the Chinese province of Jiangxi, workers there made a startling discovery. A perfectly preserved Buddha statue was initially discovered by a village local. The water level fell 10 meters and the statue’s features were revealed some more. It dates all the way back to the Ming Dynasty, or even the Yuan Dynasty. It was in a proper condition so the water probably prevented erosion.
