In 1956, two men while carving out a limestone in Germany when they came across a fossil that they could not identify and they took it to their owner, who further lent it to a geologist who confirmed that it was a fossil of an Archaeopteryx and it was a remarkable discovery as it was only third of its kind.
The owner thought of selling the fossil and making a huge profit, but when he received huge offers he declined, stating that he did not want to pay the tax and therefore it was never sold and no one knows where it is since the owner died.
